Communication I associate with: essential; sense-making; understanding,
connecting, but above all: fun and great challenge!
Since the beginning of my career I have engaged in internal and external communication involving the use of all types of media. This was initially as a photographer and graphic designer, later as a TV and Internet journalist and subsequently - after my change-over to the business sector - as MarComms Manager and Director for Online Development. Consequently, over the years I have been involved in a large number of internal and external communications processes in a range of areas.
For example, I served as project leader for the educational website
which teaches children about various forms of violence that they can
encounter during their life and how to deal with this. For the municipality
of Vlissingen I developed and implemented, in cooperation with the
local public library, a communications policy that transformed www.vlissingen.nl
from a boring website about the city hall into a dynamic portal about
the city. More recently, I led the Task Force for Communication
& Change Management within a department of ING Ops & It Banking.
Communication forms part of the training course Thinking in terms
of responsibilities that I deliver.
The most recent online communcation project I was involved in (project setup and advice) is the e-learning website Moralmap.com of the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, which was launched October 2011.
