Career path

1988 - André Kalden and beekeeper Gerrit

During the 1980s my wife and I lived for a while on a farm that cultivated flowers. The hives of Gerrit, a tall and somewhat elderly man who has seen a lot of life, were situated at the rear of the land. I helped him with the bees from time to time. Whenever he required my assistance, he would come to me and say partially in dialect: "André, you're a jack-of-all-trades, kindly help me with this".

Perception, motivation and behaviour

When I heard these words for the first time I realised that Gerrit had said a great deal about me in passing with that one sentence. Given my wide interests and broad range of activities, you could say, in a manner of speaking, that I can turn my hand to anything. At the same time, my career has been characterised by clear connecting lines and recurring themes such as ICT and communication, management, support, enhancement, analysis and building bridges. The leitmotiv is a profound interest in the perception, motivation and behaviour of people.
